Moving Day!

I'm looking at the tiny calendar at the bottom of my Mac screen and can't believe it's March 11th.  What's even more unbelievable is that I haven't written here in more than a week.  Although I'd love to say that it's because I've been on vacation, or doing something constructive in my kitchen, I can't.  I've been sick so decided to sit still and do something that I've wanted to do for quite some time:

Move This Blog!

The short version for my rationale goes something like this:  I began blogging about things having to do with something other than food (can you imagine?) with WordPress and quickly decided to host my own site.  Shortly before I decided to do my own hosting, I was still in a sampling mode shopping for a second blog so that I could write about my cooking.  As much as I'd like to say that I might dream of being able to pull off a complicated operation like Pioneer Woman where all aspects of her brain are under one roof, at the time, the concept wouldn't have occurred to me, nor would I have been able to pull it off if I had thought of it.

Somehow, I ended up here at TypePad  I'd begun to notice the clean, uncomplicated appearance of their blogs as I became more familiar with everything and decided that's where my food blog needed to be.  In the meantime, I became more and more adept at acting like I knew something about CSS and html and because I was adjusting to quite a lot of free time on my hands, I was able to experiment.  I love to experiment.

Although I've enjoyed experimenting with my blog here, I want and need to work with one style of website.  I've had a very positive blogging experience with TypePad, however.  If ever I had a question, response time was quick and people have been friendly, so I have no complaints.  But who knows?  Maybe I'll get to the point where I can say I completely designed a theme of my own instead of altering one I like.  Practice makes perfect...

So Where Do We Go From Here?

Since visitors and fellow foodies are one of the biggest enjoyments I get from having a blog and I don't want to lose you, then please take some time to travel on over to the new

and while you're there, please, please, please re-set your feed either by reader or by email. I still have lots to do there, but it's coming together nicely.  I'll keep this blog going as well, and will keep an eye on it, but don't plan to write here any longer.  I've transferred all my posts over along with all the comments you've made for nearly two years now.  In fact, the date is March 19th that Sass & Veracity will be two.  I sort of dumped the first couple of posts but managed to hang on to the one I wrote on the 31st, just for posterity's sake.

And This Was the Short Version!

I haven't written anything new for you over there yet, but will soon be posting this cake which I enjoyed way too much of.  Recipe coming soon...

Vacation!

Just wanted to let you know we were headed out of town for the weekend -- Las Vegas!  There will definitely be excellent food in order while we're there. 

I thought I'd get a post done before we went, but it only half way happened.  I'll temp you in the mean time and have you wondering what in heck this is.  Suffice it to say...

Gordon Ramsay: Who wins a piece.

Okay, so I lied.  It's clearly no longer the weekend and I know I promised to get this post taken care of Sunday.  But somehow the weekend came and went.  Or got up and left.  Between enjoying the weather here -- no longer blistering hot, and lots of gorgeous clear, windy days -- and trying to get the house clean, I never quite ended up at my Mac.  Definitely not the norm.  So apologies are in order, but so are thanks to the following people who so kindly helped my comment box feel loved for the past month!

Steph of orangehennesey has graciously sent us some avodado bliss in the form of guacamole.  I'm still dreaming of the beer battered avocados, though....



 

Grace of A Southern Grace just had to distract me with her Cold Tomato Soup with Basil made from some "maters" a buddy at work shared with her.  Refreshingly simple.



Dhanggit of Dhanggit's Kitchen has created a Chocolate Almond & Grape Foccacia.  Ahhh...sweet mystery of life, at last I've found you...



 Esi of Dishing Up Delights is sharing an elegant Easy Butternut Squash Soup with cumin and pine nuts...and spiked with cayenne.  Just perfect!



Andrea of Andrea's Recipes got my tastebuds all worked up with Grilled Chinese Eggplant with Garlic and Ginger Sauce.   If only my mother had known how to make eggplant like this.



Becke, the Columbus Foodie is wowing us all with Grilled Rainbow Trout with Whole Grain Mustard Vinaigrette and Black Beluga Lentils.  Definitely luscious, but she lets us know that doesn't mean complex.



Mansi of Fun & Food Cafe is sharing Espresso Brownies -- a mouthful of chocolate, espresso, and wait...is that Kahlua?  Goodness.  I'd sneak a few of these out in my purse.

 

Haley of appoggiatura has delivered an elegant Key Lime Pie that will leave no one standing.  You already know what we think about Key Lime around here, right?  It's probably not appropriate to lick the pie pan, is it?



Michelle of ~ Foodie...Cook-ie ~ whipped up a Peanut Heaven cake to share.  Peanut butter Swiss buttercream?  Oh.  My.



And a very special thanks to Nicisme of Cherrapeno who sent in some lovely chocolate and pistachio wedges.  But alas, they ended up in the spam folder and I didn't see them until it was brought to my attention today.  *hangs head in shame*  I seriously owe you when I hold my 200,000th visitor celebration.  Yes, when.  Not if. 



And the grand winner of Gordon Ramsay's Three Star Cheff is.... Grace of A Southern Grace!  w00t!  I don't know but if Gordon even looked like he thought he might yell at Grace for anything, he'd be seriously sorry.  Right Grace?

Okay, everyone, clap!  Let's hear it for two lovely ladies who outdid themselves in sharing the blog love.  It does go to show you, however, that it does help statistically to have more than one chance in a drawing.  To figure out the winners, I assigned each comment a number (picture each commentor buying a raffle ticket for each of their comments), then told Random Generator to choose a number between 1 and 276 for the consolation prize, and 1 and 44 for the grand prize.  See?

Blissfully Delish: Gordon Ramsay Three Star Chef

Not too long ago, I was invited to participate as contributing writer for the fabulous Blissfully Domestic, sharing all things food, of course.  In fact, tomorrow, my first article will be published on the Blissfully Delish channel with many more to come along with other great foodie contributors.  If you haven't had time to visit this amazing website, then you need to get on over there.  Whether it's information about photography, or personal finance, homeschooling, or health, you're bound to find much that will catch your eye.  I never cease to be amazed at the talent of people I meet on the Internet and the communities that develop as a result of their creativity and hard work.  I know you'll agree!

Here's something else you may be interested in.  Sass & Veracity will soon welcome its 100,000 visitor -- something I'm very proud of!  Therefore, I thought it would be fun to say thanks to my visitors in style, and offer something special to one lucky person. 

Because I can't pinpoint who will be the 100,000th visitor, I'm going to do this instead:
